Write your first changelog post
A changelog post is the way you tell your users what shipped. Done well, it turns customers into advocates.
The four fields that matter
Title. Lead with the benefit. "Billing is here" beats "v2.4.0 release".
Cover image. Even a simple gradient beats nothing. 1200×630 hits Twitter, LinkedIn, and the widget feed cleanly.
Type. Feature, Improvement, or Bug Fix. Color-coded in the feed.
Audience. All users is fine to start. Narrow once you need to.
A simple post structure
**Hook in one line.** What changed in human language.
## What's new
- Three bullets, benefit-first.
## Why it matters
One paragraph. Why a busy user should care.
> Call to action — open the feature, read the deep dive, etc.
Schedule vs publish now
Hit Publish to ship immediately. Schedule if you want the post to drop at a specific time (lunch hour for your audience usually works).
Pin the big ones
Pinning keeps a post at the top of the widget feed. Use it for your monthly roundup or your biggest release of the quarter.
