Write your first changelog post

Article Popular

A changelog post is the way you tell your users what shipped. Done well, it turns customers into advocates.

The four fields that matter

  • Title. Lead with the benefit. "Billing is here" beats "v2.4.0 release".

  • Cover image. Even a simple gradient beats nothing. 1200×630 hits Twitter, LinkedIn, and the widget feed cleanly.

  • Type. Feature, Improvement, or Bug Fix. Color-coded in the feed.

  • Audience. All users is fine to start. Narrow once you need to.

A simple post structure

**Hook in one line.** What changed in human language.

## What's new
- Three bullets, benefit-first.

## Why it matters
One paragraph. Why a busy user should care.

> Call to action — open the feature, read the deep dive, etc.

Schedule vs publish now

Hit Publish to ship immediately. Schedule if you want the post to drop at a specific time (lunch hour for your audience usually works).

Pin the big ones

Pinning keeps a post at the top of the widget feed. Use it for your monthly roundup or your biggest release of the quarter.
