In-App Launches let you turn any release note or announcement into a targeted message that appears right inside your product. Every launch is built in a visual editor, so you can ship announcements, onboarding tips, and important alerts without writing any code.

Choosing a surface

A surface is the format your message takes on screen. In-App Launches offers three, each suited to a different level of urgency:

  • Toast: A small, non-intrusive message that appears briefly in a corner of the screen. Best for quick tips, confirmations, and low-priority nudges.

  • Modal: A centered pop-up that takes full attention. Best for major announcements, onboarding steps, and messages users should not miss.

  • Banner: A persistent bar pinned to the top of the screen. Best for ongoing notices such as maintenance windows, countdowns, or new releases.

Creating a launch

  1. Open In-app Launches from the sidebar and click New launch.

  2. Pick a starting point: choose a ready-made template with real copy, or select Start blank to build from scratch. You can filter templates by use case or by surface.

  3. Name the draft, then customize the heading, body, call-to-action button, and surface in the builder.

  4. Set your targeting under Where to control which pages and domains the launch appears on, and schedule when it should go live.

  5. Publish the launch. It will appear to matching users the next time they load your app.

Styling with themes

Themes are reusable styles that keep every launch on-brand. Open the Themes tab to create one, and the live preview updates as you edit. A theme starts from a shared Foundation — your brand palette, corner radius, shadow, size, padding, typography, and tone — and you can then override the look per surface using the Modal, Banner, and Toast tabs.

You can auto-generate a palette from a single seed color, switch between light and dark surface modes, or import colors from your widget. Contrast badges follow WCAG AA guidelines so your text stays readable.

Measuring performance

Each launch tracks how many users viewed it, its click-through rate, and how often it was dismissed. Use the status and surface filters and the time-period controls on the Launches tab to review results and compare messages over time.
