Configure the widget

Choose how the Releaseo widget opens, which tabs it shows, what the Home screen contains and how the contact form works, with a live preview.

The Widget page in the dashboard controls what your customers see and how they open it. This article covers behavior, tabs and content. For installation, see "Install the widget in 60 seconds", and for colors and branding see "Custom theme & branding".

If your project has no widget yet, the page shows No widget configured. Select Create default widget to start. Changing settings needs the widget management permission.

How the page works

Settings are grouped in tabs: General, Tabs & content, Home, Contact, Theme and Translations. A Live preview sits beside them and follows your unsaved changes. Use the device toggle to switch between desktop and mobile.

Each tab has a save bar. It reads Unsaved changes · Preview only while you edit, and All changes saved once you select Save. Nothing reaches your live widget until you save.

Choose how the widget opens (General)

  • Widget name: the name of the widget in your dashboard.

  • Where the widget opens: pick Drawer (full height at the side), Floating panel (a card floating at the side), Popover (opens above the launcher) or Modal (opens in the middle of the screen). Choose a Size of Small, Medium or Large.

  • Trigger mode:

    • Beacon shows a launcher button on your pages. Set the Launcher text, for example "What's New", and use Where this beacon appears to limit the launcher to certain domains or pages.

    • Only manually shows no launcher. The page then displays a code snippet to call from your app, and you open the widget yourself.

Decide which tabs customers see (Tabs & content)

Each tab is a card with an on/off switch. The tabs you can enable are:

  • Home: the landing hub, shown as the first destination.

  • Changelog: product updates and release notes.

  • Feedback: lets users submit feedback.

  • Feature requests: collect and moderate customer requests.

  • Roadmap: customer-facing roadmap items grouped by progress.

  • Help center: your folders and articles. See "Create and organize Help Center articles".

  • Chat: lets customers start a conversation with your team. Access and routing are configured in Settings, Live chat.

For each enabled tab you can set a Tab label, choose an icon, and give the tab its own title. Some tabs have extra options:

  • Changelog: Feedback mode (Reaction with comment, Reaction only, Comment only or Off) and Written feedback identity (Contact required for text, Anonymous allowed or Identified only).

  • Feedback: Require login to submit feedback.

  • Feature requests: Require login to submit and vote on requests.

The Changelog, Feature requests, Roadmap and Help center tabs also have display rules, so you can show them only on certain domains or pages.

Shape the Home screen (Home)

When the Home tab is on, this tab controls its content:

  • Welcome content: the title and subtitle customers see first.

  • Quick access: buttons that open live chat, a URL, or a script action in your own app.

  • Request feature CTA: sends Home feedback into feature requests. It needs the Feature requests tab enabled.

  • Contact CTA: a Home item that opens the contact form inside the widget.

  • Contact information: phone, email and WhatsApp contacts, plus an optional About text and address.

  • Social media: follow links for platforms such as LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Discord, GitHub or your website.

Set up the contact form (Contact)

The Contact form card sets the form's Title, Submit label, Intro and Success message. Under Fields, choose up to 10 fields (text, email, textarea, select or checkbox). Email, name, first name and last name can be prefilled from the identity your app passes to Releaseo. The form opens from the Contact CTA on Home.

Translate the widget (Translations)

Use this tab to translate the widget's own wording. See "Translate your content into other languages".
